Wearable sweat sensor to detect the stress level
Every one of us knows how bad is stress for us, it affects blood pressure, body metabolism and immune system. Even if long time stress can lead to the development of chronic type diseases. So the scientist has invented a water-resistant patch, which we can directly apply to skin and measure amount of cortisol ( stress hormone).
After a long hard effort scientist's invention of a waterproof wearable patch which can be stick to the skin, absorbs sweat and within a few seconds, it gives accurate results of how much amount of stress hormone-producing by the human body.
Basically the bio-sensor deal with the positive or negative charge nature of the molecules, but cortisol being a chargeless molecule, so the researchers find a solution to put the membrane that obstructs the flow of cortisol molecule and regularly charged molecule passes away. Then the sensor measures the amount of cortisol- carrying molecule trapped by the membrane.
"We are particularly interested in sweat sensing because it offers non-invasive and continuous monitoring of various biomarkers for a range of physiological conditions," said by the lead author, Onur Parlak from Stanford University, US.
"This offers a novel approach for the early detection of various diseases and evaluation of sports performance," Parlak added this in the paper published in journal Science Advances.
If this prototype version of the wearable sweat sensor devices becomes a reality, then people can monitor their own health without going to the clinic, the researchers said.
